Maldives (FN), Jan. 16 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen hoped that ASEAN members accept the Maldives as a partner Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and observer in ASEAN.

The premier spoke during a joint press conference on Monday afternoon (Jan 16) at the Maldives Presidential Palace.

"Hopefully, ASEAN members will accept a new partner (the Maldives) because there is no reason to reject. We have become partners with other countries. Our region is also the neighbor of this country," the premier underscored.

Samdech thanked the Maldives for supporting the kingdom to become a member of the OIC as an observer and hoped that Cambodia would become a key player in national and religious harmony.
