Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 14 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen asked South Korean investors to help boost secondary industrial and high-tech industrial sectors in Cambodia.

The premier spoke during a courtesy call by South Korean industrial delegation led by Oh Myung, held on Saturday morning (Jan 14) at the Peace Palace.

Oh Myung informed Samdech that he had visited the kingdom 10 years ago and he has witnessed the kingdom's rapid development. He also noted that Cambodia is very favorable for South Korea's investment, adding that Cambodia and Korea have reached a free trade agreement. Cambodia has peace, political stability and is free from natural disasters. However, Korean investors still need to learn about investment climate in the kingdom.

For his part, Samdech asked Oh Myung and the delegation to help promote Korean investors to invest in Cambodia based on these favorable factors. Cambodia and South Korea have a free trade agreement and a comprehensive strategic partnership in ASEM. The kingdom also allows Korean investors to own 100 percent ownership and allows all companies to use foreign currency.

Cambodia also has raw materials, some plantations as cashews, rice, rubber, potatoes, and young labour force. In this regard, Samdech asked Oh Myung and the delegation to help boost secondary industrial and high-tech industrial sectors in Cambodia.
