Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 12 – Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida sent a message to Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Japan.

"On behalf of the Government of Japan and the people of Japan, I would like to sincerely congratulate Cambodia and Japan on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries," according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Jan 12).

"I am also pleased to promote the bilateral relationship to the level of "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” the letter continued.

"Our two countries have established and maintained a warm friendship for the past 70 years. In particular, through cooperation for peace-seeking in Cambodia, nation-building, and development of Cambodia. Our two countries have built mutual trust. With the remarkable development of Cambodia, the potential for cooperation between the two countries is even greater. Cooperation on demining assistance to Ukraine presents a new form of cooperation between our two countries. Under Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Japan intends to establish new cooperation with the premier and the Cambodian people," the letter added.
