Preah Sihanouk (FN), Dec. 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen shared six key recommendations to develop the kingdom’s coastal areas, speaking at the opening ceremony of the 9th Sea Festival, the 3rd round under the theme "Bay of Peace, Bay of Hope", held on Saturday (Dec 10) in Preah Sihanouk Province.

“Taking the opportunity of celebrating the Sea Festival 2022, I would like to highlight some important recommendations as follows:

First. As mentioned at the opening ceremony of the World Congress this morning, we must keep the presence of permanent peace, as the most significant element for the development of each nation in the world. Now, Cambodia is gradually beginning to receive national and international guests from everywhere, together with a successful containment of COVID-19. No Peace, No Development; No Peace, No Respect for Human Rights and Democracy; and, without peace, there is nothing. Hence, I urge Cambodian citizens nationwide to unite to maintain peace which we have so hard fought for. We must not allow any country or group to destroy peace in this country, and we all must maintain the peace, at all costs, to ensure development;

Second. With the presence of leaders and club members of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World, I would also like to request once again that the authorities of the four coastal provinces together with the local citizens must unite to maintain the reputation as a club member of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World, and to deserve the title of "The Rising Star of the Southwest";

Third. Relevant ministries-institutions must continue to give priority to developing coastal areas, building necessary infrastructure to support the tourism sector, and connecting one area to another by roadways, railways and airways; Fourth. We must boost production to supply to tourists, as an objective of "the on- site export". Our citizens have many opportunities to serve and meet the needs of international tourists, gradually returning to Cambodia, along with millions of domestic tourists. We must strive to promote production with a good standard to serve the tourism sector, particularly, to create a green belt in the tourist sites;

Fifth. We must continue to pay close attention to maintaining security and order. Peace is at the macro level, while security and social order are both at the macro and micro levels. In this sense, all tourism sites, not just in Preah Sihanouk Province but also in other coastal provinces, and wherever there are tourists, we must strive to maintain security and social order; and

Sixth. I would like to call on relevant ministries-institutions, authorities at all levels, armed forces of all types, all compatriots and the private sector to participate with a high sense of responsibility to make this year's Sea Festival a success, contributing more actively in the competition of "Clean City, Clean Resort, Good Service, Good Hospitality", and collaborating to maintain the beauty, hygiene and environment as indispensable factors in preserving beautiful coastal areas as heritance to the next generations for a long time to come.”
