Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 3 – The Chinese government expressed strong support for future candidate for Cambodia's prime minister Hun Manet and considers him as mature and visionary as the current premier Hun Sen.

Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi spoke in a courtesy call on the premier Hun Sen on Wednesday (Aug 3) afternoon at the Peace Palace.

Delegate minister Kao Kim Hourn said premier Hun Sen and Wang Yi discussed Cambodia-China relations. Both leaders pledged to foster deeper relations.

“Cambodia and China look beyond the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and build community of shared future,” said Wang.

Wang Yi reiterated that China strongly supports Cambodia's domestic and foreign policy and further supports the kingdom’s long-term development vision under the leadership of premier Hun Sen. In particular, the protection of Cambodia's sovereignty and independence.

Talking of Cambodian future leader, Wang Yi announced that China will support the future leader appointed by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).

In response, Samdech Hun Sen welcomed Chinese support for Cambodia's domestic and foreign policies.

Samdech added that Cambodia has set the directions to ensure that Cambodia-China relations remain strong even under the leadership of future leaders.
