Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 3 – Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, the ASEAN foreign ministers called for utmost restraints and to end the conflict as soon as possible.

Secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kung Phoak spoke at the press conference on Wednesday (Aug 3) evening.

Kung Phoak said that ASEAN foreign ministers decided to choose Russia-Ukraine war as the agenda for today's discussion. As a result, ASEAN has urged all parties to exercise the utmost restraint.

"The ASEAN urged for the utmost restraint by de-escalating the tension in order to allow the flow of humanitarian assistances to the needy and urged for immediate end of the conflict. War has brought global food shortage crisis, surges of energy price, and economic crisis. The ASEAN also urged mutual respect of sovereignty, territorial integrity, as well as peaceful and constructive dialogue to end this conflict," he added.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation on Ukraine after the latter announced an intention to join NATO.
