Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 3 – Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi lauded for Cambodia's development and congratulated the smooth conduct of the 5th mandate communal election in June 2022, which is in accordance with the principles of democracy and a peaceful environment.

Wang Yi spoke during a meeting with Cambodian army commander lieutenant general Hun Manet, held on Wednesday (Aug 3).

Chinese foreign minister congratulated the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on the election victory and hoped CPP continue to lead Cambodia in the long-term prosperity. Wang Yi also pledged to further encourage more investments and assistances to the kingdom, including in the field of national defense.

On this occasion, both countries shared the same vision as follow (1) the protection of internal peace and stability for the prosperity of the people; and (2) the protection of peace and stability in the region and global.

In response, Hun Manet thanked the Chinese counterpart for his support since the two countries have built official diplomatic ties for 64 years.

Finally, Manet thanked the People's Republic of China for the close cooperation between the people and armies of the two countries. He supported the two governments' direction to further push the two countries’ relations and cooperation in all sectors.
