Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 6 – Former president Colombia Andrés Pastrana Arango said that Cambodia's elections have been remarkably successful in following the principle of liberal multi-party democracy.

His statement was made during his visit to Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) on Monday (Jun 6) as a sideline of his mission to observe Cambodia's communal election, held on Sunday.

During his visit, the former president also took the opportunity to meet the Colombian armed forces who are in Cambodia for training with CMAC on mechanical demining operations. In this regard, the former president also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for sharing on demining operations.

On that occasion, the former president also recalled discussions and talks with Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on peacebuilding process in Cambodia. The former president praised the great progress Cambodia made under the premier’s wise leadership.
