Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 6 – The independent international observers confirmed that the 5th mandate communal election was held in accordance with the international law.

"The independent international observers would like to confirm that the election was conducted in accordance with the international law. We would like to thank all involved parties in the election, allowing the election to run successfully,” according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Monday (Jun 6).

The observers added that the election was conducted calmly, transparency and freely, which can be indicated that the kingdom has a political stability. The effective control on COVID19 also allowed this kingdom to resume her border and tourism as well as allow Cambodian citizens living overseas to return to their motherland to cast vote.

"This election was held in a very normal way. Personally, I have been participated many times in observing election process, but what I see in Cambodia’s election process was no difference from that of France,” the observers added.

Independent international observers were pleased that each voter’s identity was registered through a computer system and was later printed out as a voter list to post at each polling station.

They also confirmed that the voters were monitored from the polling station’s gate by three officials. Then, the voter’s index finger was dipped in a black ink to avoid a double ballot. The ballot boxes, aided by the Japanese government, was also fully locked and sealed.
