Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 6 – The Khmer United Party confirmed that the 5th mandate communal election was conducted smoothly, uninterruptedly, and without any violence.

“The Khmer United Party observed that the situation during the election campaign from 21 May to 3 June 2022 and during the election day on 5 June 2022 was well conducted as all concerned parties are politically mature, which led to smooth, uninterrupted and non violent election. In addition, this election mandate was better compared to previous mandates,” according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Monday (Jun 6).

The Khmer United Party thanked the National Election Committee (NEC) for organizing the 5th mandate communal election in accordance with the principles of democracy.

It is worth noting that at least 7.1 million people came to vote among the 9.2 million registered voters, an equivalent to 77.9 per cent, according to the National Election Committee.

The election was observed by 72 institutions, organizations and 19 international communities, along with delegations from the embassies of Japan, Australia and Russia in Cambodia.
