Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 6 – The Cambodian Youth Party issued a statement saying the Cambodia's 5th mandate communal election, held on 5 June, was free and fair and held in non-threatening environment.

“On 5 June 2022, Cambodia held the 5th mandate Commune / Sangkat Council Election with the participation of 17 political parties. Cambodian Youth Party was one of the registered parties. We confirmed that the election process was conducted freely, fairly and without any coercions, in particular a majority of citizens casted a vote," according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Monday.

At least 7.1 million people came to vote among the 9.2 million registered voters, an equivalent to 77.9 per cent, according to the National Election Committee.

The election was observed by 72 local institutions, organizations and 19 international communities, along with delegations from the embassies of Japan, Australia and Russia in Cambodia.
