Phnom Penh (FN), May 26 – U-Pay, a digital payment service that delivers a seamless lifestyle to users in Cambodia, and the University of Puthisastra, which focuses on health science and technology education, have announced a three-year agreement on 25 May 2022 that sets a roadmap for their future collaboration on various areas and initiatives.

This partnership will primarily focus on introducing internships and creating career opportunities for computer scientists and technology entrepreneurs, as U-Pay commits to accepting undergraduate students who are ready for their career growth in financial technology advancement.

“We intend to have a strong relationship and future with our partners,” said professor Ian Findlay, president, and vice-chancellor of the University of Puthisastra. “We need to collaborate with partners who can help our students develop the abilities they will need in the next five years.” More significantly, professor Ian Findlay wants the students to become more adaptable, flexible forward-looking. “We are very keen to discuss and explore these opportunities, which is why we are here today,” he added.

Koh Hao Jie, the CEO of U-Pay has moreover recognized that they both shared the same vision in terms of contributing to the development of human capital as part of the government framework for Cambodia's digital economy. “We need to provide opportunities for students to stay up with innovation at the pace which skills adapt and shift,” Koh said. “As a Fintech company, one of our goals is to provide a learning approach to tackle real-world problems with our most recent advanced technology.”

From a fraction of the extensive future collaboration, U-Pay and the University of Puthisastra will discuss and look more into the internship programs of the students who are aiming to enhance their skills and experience in database and programming, as well as networking.
