Switzerland (FN), May 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen in his capacity as the rotating chair of ASEAN Summit 2022, invited an executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab to attend the second ASEAN-Global Dialogue, held in Cambodia.

The premier spoke during a meeting with Klaus Schwab on Tuesday (Phnom Penh time) in Davos, Switzerland.

The premier expressed his grateful to Klaus Schwab for meeting him, in particular at the invitation of the WEF in Davos in 2022, and in line with Cambodia’s chairmanship of ASEAN Summit this year. Therefore, the premier invited Klaus Schwab to attend the second ASEAN-Global Dialogue, which will be held in November 2022 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Samdech added that in 2012, Cambodia, as the chair of ASEAN, organized the first ASEAN-Global Dialogue, which was attended by the heads of institutions from IMF, World Bank as well as the Asian Development Bank and so on.

In response, the executive chairman of WEF thanked the premier for the invitation. He and the WEF delegation considered ASEAN vital for the WEF.

Klaus Schwab continued, he also received an invitation from the G20 to attend the G20 summit in Indonesia. He accepted premier Hun Sen’s invitation to attend the meeting [the second ASEAN-GLOBAL Dialogue] by pointing out that this is a good opportunity for him to visit Cambodia to see the kingdom’s progress.

Samdech also underlined the kingdom’s progress and achievements, which was once a war-torn country.

On that occasion, Klaus Schwab also expressed his intention to see the establishment of a center, run by the WEF, which has done in the past in some countries, such as the United States, China and Japan, as well as other countries.

In this regard, the kingdom is able to take advantage of this fourth industrial revolution, and not only that, the establishment of this center can be a center to assist in the utilization of the latest technology. As he has done in other countries, for example, the use of drones to transport emergency medicine to remote areas, as well as for agriculture, and may also have other works that require technology, Klaus Schwab added.

Klaus Schwab told premier Hun Sen that he expected cooperation between Cambodia and the WEF in the future, especially when he comes to visit Cambodia.

In response, Samdech will assign Cambodian officials to work with the WEF on this task.
