Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 28 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Royal of Government will increase salaries for civil servants and armed forces in 2023 if there is no massive impacts from the COVID19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

The premier spoke in a meeting with Cambodian athletes, held on Thursday (28 Apr) at Koh Pich, Phnom Penh.

"According to the economic forecasts, increasing salary for our civil servants and armed forces is possible if there is no massive impact from the COVID19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war," the premier underlined.

As of 27 April 2022, the tax revenue already reached 53 per cent of the plan, while the tax revenue in 2021 exceeded the plan by 124%. In addition, the government has also spent approximately USD 40 million monthly to help 700,000 vulnerable households.

On 31 March 2022, the premier advised Cambodian economy and finance minister Aun Pornmoniroth to increase retirement pension for low-paid retiree due to the COVID19 pandemic.
