Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 27 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reiterated that agricultural sector remains a priority for the kingdom to ensure that she has sufficient supply of rice domestically.

The premier spoke at the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (27 Apr).

"Agriculture remains a key sector to ensure that Cambodians still have adequate rice to eat," the premier underlined.

Based on a report from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in 2021, the kingdom’s agricultural sector contributed to approximately 24.4 per cent of GDP.

According to the Cambodian Rice Federation, in the first quarter of 2022, Cambodia exported rice to 49 countries and autonomous regions with a total volume of 170,539 tons, worth over USD 100 million.
