Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 27 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia's effective control of COVID19 was the result of the joint efforts among people, private sectors, and the government of Cambodia.

The premier spoke in the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (27 Apr).

The premier recalled that today last year was when Cambodia was put on lockdown. At that time, the citizens and the government together joined hands to fight against the COVID19 community transmission.

"Last year’s battle against COVID19 was tough, but our people, regardless of any political tendencies, together with the Royal Government contributed, which resulted in the successful control of the COVID19 outbreak,” the premier underlined.

On the occasion, the premier also praised the private sectors, who have actively assisted the government in coping with the crisis, in particular providing places for COVID19 treatment.

Cambodia has so far vaccinated more than 93 percent of the total population. More than 8 million people have received third dose and nearly 1.5 million received the fourth shot.
