Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the kingdom’s successful vaccination program has been driven by a "blooming flower" strategy, administering vaccines from the core outbreak areas.

The premier spoke in an inauguration of the Cambodia-China Friendship Preah Kossamak Hospital on Monday.

"I have shared my experience with many countries. I believed that Cambodia's successful vaccination experience has not only resulted from the vaccine alone, but also the rollout approach. Cambodia carries out a “blooming flower” strategy by administering vaccines to Phnom Penh and Kandal province first and then widely reach other targeted provinces to ensure a herd community,” the premier underlined.

Premier Hun Sen also pointed out that so far, some countries have achieved high vaccination rates, but the number of infections and deaths are still high.

Samdech added that Cambodia does not consider her experience would apply to all, but with the timely actions, Cambodia has achieved a herd community.

To date, Cambodia has so far vaccinated more than 92 percent of the total population. Nearly 8 million people have received third dose and more than 1.1 million received the fourth shot.
