Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen requested Japan to increase the quota to accept more Cambodian skilled workers and trainees, speaking in a joint press conference with Japanese prime minister Kishida Fumio on Sunday at the Peace Palace.

"I also requested Japan to increase the quota to accept more Cambodian skilled workers and trainees. In this regard, Japanese premier expects that many specified skilled workers and technical intern trainees from Cambodia will come to Japan continuously when the COVID19 situation improves," premier Hun Sen underlined.

The two prime ministers consented to enhance intellectual exchange among the Government of Japan, Japanese think tanks, Asian Vision Institute (AVI) and Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace (CICP), according a joint statement seen by Fresh News on Sunday.

The two prime ministers also shared the view that they would continue to cooperate in developing human resources for Cambodia’s administration.

Premier Hun Sen welcomed Japan’s decision to resume its acceptance of specified skilled workers and technical intern trainees from 1 March 2022, the statement added.
