Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 19 – The United States has announced to donate an additional 2 million doses of COVID19 vaccine to Cambodia through COVAX Facility.

Health Ministry’s secretary of state Youk Sambath spoke during a handover ceremony of 139,230 doses of ASEAN-funded Pfizer COVID19 vaccine at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

“In March, we expect to receive a donation of vaccine in a bilateral agreement from Italy,” she said.

From March to September 2022, Cambodia expects to receive 5 million doses of China-aided vaccine, and another batch from the COVAX facility, Sambath added.

To date, Cambodia has received vaccine donation bilaterally from nine countries, including China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Poland, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Italy.

Sambath continued, Cambodia has so far received approximately 50 million doses of COVID19 vaccine, through bilateral aids, COVAX Facility and purchases.

To date, Cambodia has about 6 million doses in stock.
