Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – Cambodia made the decision within three hours to be the co-sponsor of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation in Ukraine, speaking in an inauguration ceremony of Cambodia-China Friendship in Tbong Khmum province on Monday.

“We are observing closely on the [Russia-Ukriane] situation. Cambodia decided to be a co-sponsor of the UNGA resolution. I issued the order just three hours and a half before the actual vote, as we cannot ignore the large-scale attack on any country,” the premier underlined.

On 2 March 2022, the United Nations convened an emergency convention to vote on a resolution condemning and demanding that Russia withdraw its troops from Ukraine. Of the 181 countries, 141 voted in favor of the resolution, five voted against the resolution, while 35 abstained.

Cambodia is among the 141 countries, while China and Vietnam are among the 35 countries that voted abstained.
