Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian said he agreed with Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen’s statement that “a war is not a mean to end war.”

The ambassador spoke in an inauguration ceremony of Cambodia-China Friendship Hospital in Tbong Khmum province on Monday.

"I think NATO should abandon the cold war concept as soon as possible," the said.

Ambassador Wang continued that Russia's demand for her national security should be properly addressed. China supports NATO and Russia to start dialogue and build a balanced, effective, and sustainable European security mechanism.

“China always opposes the illegal and unilateral sanctions on a sovereign state. Sanctions on Russia will not ease the situation, yet will further escalate tension in Ukraine. China welcomes the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and encourages diplomatic efforts to help resolve the Ukraine crisis peacefully,” the ambassador underlined.

On 27 February 2022, premier Hun Sen said that the Russian forces may not be able to overthrow Ukraine by military mean and it is the same for Ukraine. The only possible solution is peaceful negotiations.

“Peaceful negotiations through the win-win policy allowed Cambodia to achieve complete peace in 1998 and let her people live in peace and prosperity. Cambodia would be at war now if none peaceful negotiations were made,” according to the premier.
