Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen brought up “Plus One” investment concept, which means a neighboring country also receives investment opportunities in case the primary country is facing crisis.

The premier spoke in the bilateral talk with Asia-Pacific program manager and executive member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Joo Ok Lee at the Peace Palace on Thursday (3 Mar).

According to the premier's personal secretary Eang Sophalleth, premier Hun Sen also highlighted that with “Plus One” concept, a neighboring country can help solve the crisis of another country such as COVID19 pandemic in order to maintain stability, the supply of goods, as well as attract investment in the digital sector.

On that occasion, Joo Ok Lee congratulated the premier for his role as the rotating chair of ASEAN Summit 2022 and praised Cambodia's development progress as the kingdom has significantly developed compared to his last visit in 2017.

If there is no COVID19 outbreak, Cambodia would grow even faster, Joo Ok Lee added.

Joo Ok Lee informed the premier about the organizing process of the WEF, which will be held in June 2022.

In response, Samdech agreed with Joo Ok Lee that if there was no COVID19 outbreak, Cambodia would have developed more rapidly along with greater poverty reduction. The premier also briefed about Cambodia's COVID19 effective control, adding that the kingdom’s economy is expected to grow about 5.6 per cent in 2022.
