Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 16 – Singapore pledged to further strengthen Cambodia-Singapore bilateral ties and support Cambodia's chairmanship of ASEAN 2022.

Singaporean foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan spoke during the courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace on Wednesday evening.

Vivian Balakrishnan praised Cambodia’s COVID19 effective control and her successful vaccination program as nearly 90 percent of the total population have been vaccinated, which allows the kingdom to reopen all socio-economic activities.

High vaccination rate also attracts Singaporean investors to invest in the kingdom, including trade, warehousing, and transportation.

In response, premier Hun Sen thanked Singapore for supporting Cambodia as ASEAN chair and considering to resume flights with Cambodia.

Lastly, the premier encouraged more Singaporean investment in Cambodia in order to boost trade between the two countries, and eyed possible cooperation in other fields such as education, health and other areas.
