Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 11 – The National Assembly speaker of the Republic of Korea Park Byeong-seung pledged to speed up the ratification of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) in the mid of 2022 in order to promote trade and investment flows between the two countries.

The national assembly speaker spoke during the working meeting with Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on Friday in Seoul, South Korea.

Park Byeong-Seung believed that CKFTA is an important driving force to promote trade and investment flows between the two countries, in addition to the RCEP agreement.

On the occasion, the NA speaker also praised Cambodia’s new investment law, which actively encourages more foreign investors, including South Korean, to invest in the kingdom.

Cambodia and the Republic of Korea officially signed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) via video conference on 26 October 2021 and the trade agreement awaits ratification from the National Assembly.
