Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 7 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen urged Cambodia-China stakeholders to speed up the establishment of COVID19 vaccine producing factories in Cambodia, speaking in an inauguration ceremony for the official use of China-aided National Road No. 7 rehabilitation project in Kratie province on Monday.

“China is still our main strategic supplier of COVID19 vaccine and we are working with the Chinese side to set up the vaccine factories in Cambodia. Once the factory set up, we no longer have difficulty in vaccine delivery,” the premier underlined.

“I would like to call on our people to continue to fight against COVID19 and get complete vaccination in order to build a strong herd immunity,” Samdech continued.

Cambodia will receive an additional 5 million doses of COVID19 vaccine from China and purchase another 3 million doses, which will arrive in the first quarter of 2022. Currently, Cambodia has 8.8 million doses of COVID19 vaccine in storage.

China has supplied the most vaccines to Cambodia, followed by World Health Organization through the COVAX Facility, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, the Netherlands and Poland.
