Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 7 – As the rotating chair of ASEAN 2022, Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reaffirmed that the Myanmar crisis will not be solved under Cambodia’s ASEAN chairmanship alone; it will last until the next ASEAN chairs.

The premier said he will wait and see whether the soft or hard approach will resolve the Myanmar crisis, speaking in an inauguration ceremony for the official use of China-aided National Road No. 7 rehabilitation project in Kratie province on Monday.

Premier Hun Sen said he did not care about some Myanmar people opposing his efforts to resolve the Myanmar crisis; his mission is to assist Myanmar escapes civil wars.

“Putting out the flames of war first, then democratic process later,” the premier underlined.

"I have done my best. On behalf of ASEAN member and as the rotating chair of ASEAN this year, Cambodia will not give up efforts to help Myanmar escapes wars.”

Premier Hun Sen called on concerned parties in Myanmar to strictly adhere to the implementation of ASEAN’s five-point consensus to resolve the Myanmar crisis.
