Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 4 – Commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army general Narongpan Jittkaewtae pledged to maintain a peaceful border and good cooperation with Cambodia.

His statement was made during a courtesy call on Cambodian defense minister Tea Banh on 3 February 2022 at the Ministry of National Defense.

The Thai army chief commander conveyed regards from Thai prime minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha to minister Tea Banh. He also praised the progress made in all areas of Cambodia and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

Minister Tea Banh welcomed and highly appreciated general Narongpan Jittkaewtae and his high-level delegation for a two-day visit to the kingdom.

"The two countries had had a few problems in the past, but we have pledged to resolve them peacefully, adhering to the tradition of good relations," said Tea Banh.

Tea Banh said that as the rotating chair of ASEAN 2022, Cambodian Ministry of National Defense will chair the ASEAN Defense Ministers 'Meeting and the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus on 7 February 2022; thus, would request Thailand's support to successfully chair the meetings.
