Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen told commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army general Narongpan Jittkaewtae that the army diplomacy helps maintain peace and stability between countries and ensure people’s confidence to do businesses along the border.

The premier spoke in a courtesy call by general Narongpan Jittkaewtae at the Peace Palace on Thursday.

Cambodian premier congratulated Narongpan Jittkaewtae, who was awarded the Medal of Cooperation by the king, and expressed satisfaction with the relationship between the two countries' armies.

Samdech also suggested that in order for the border to become a zone of peace, the army must be an army of diplomacy and peace.

According to the premier’s personal assistant Eang Sophalleth, general Narongpan Jittkaewtae also highlighted the good relations between the two armies, and pledged to promote relations and cooperation in preventing cross-border crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal logging and other crimes.

At the invitation of the Royal Cambodian Army, commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army general Narongphan Jittkaewtae paid a two-day official visit to Cambodia for the first time since taking office.
