Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 31 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reacted to some analysts for criticizing Cambodian army commander lieutenant general Hun Manet's royal call on king Norodom Sihanouk and queen mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk.

The premier spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony of a flyover on National Road 5 on Monday.

Critics said Manet has no obligations to pay royal call to king and queen.

"Every person has the rights to pay royal audience to king and queen, not just prime minister. Hence, Manet has the rights to do so," the premier said.

"During the royal call, I also informed the king Manet’s succession after the I resign," the premier continued.

On 22 January 2022, Cambodian premier Hun Sen and lieutenant general Manet paid royal audience to the king and queen mother at the Royal Palace, and briefed them on the government's achievements.
