Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 25 – Malaysian prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will pay an official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of prime minister Hun Sen in order to further strengthen relations and discuss shared concerns between the two countries.

Yaakob confirmed in a meeting with premier Hun Sen on Tuesday via videoconference.

Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he will physically join the ASEAN Summit 2022 and related meetings in Cambodia if COVID19 situation eases, according to delegate minister Kao Kim Hourn.

2022 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relation between Cambodia and Malaysia.

“Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the increased bilateral trade volume despite the COVID19 pandemic. Yaakob considered Cambodia as an important partner of Malaysia,” said Kao Kim Hourn.

Kao Kim Hourn quoted Samdech as saying that, "Our countries are still working together to boost trade cooperation. Cambodia is a small country, yet is a potential buyer of Malaysian products.”

The premier also proposed to promote cooperation in all sectors between the two countries.
