Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 19 – ASEAN secretary general Dato Lim Jock Hoi pledged to work with all ASEAN members to reopen ASEAN tourism, including the implementation of the ASEAN Travel Corridor, according to delegate minister Kao Kim Hourn.

The ASEAN secretary general spoke Wednesday in a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, attended by ASEAN tourism ministers.

As the current COVID19 situation has eased gradually, premier Hun Sen proposed to promote travels in the ASEAN region, adding that ASEAN should review his proposal in order to boost community mobility among ASEAN countries and their people, which contribute to promoting tourism sector and people-to-people contact.

In response, Lim Jock Hoi pledged to continue to work closely with all ASEAN members to reopen ASEAN tourism, as well as the implementation of the ASEAN Travel Corridor.

The ASEAN secretary general also pledged to work with ASEAN members to promote the implementation of ASEAN tourism and that the action plan will be discussed later in March.

Lim Jock Hoi pledged to work with all relevant sectors for ASEAN tourism recovery, and thanked premier Hun Sen for his leadership and heartfelt encouragement, urging ASEAN to strive to improve tourism which contributes to the regional economy.
