Sihanoukville (FN), Jan. 18 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen arrived Sihanoukville on Tuesday morning to preside over the opening of the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2022).

Minister of Tourism Thong Khon expressed his hope that the ATF 2022 will significantly contribute to promoting the official reopening of tourism destinations in the ASEAN region, adding that this international event would help promote Cambodia as ASEAN’s safe tourism destination.

Cambodia organized the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Sihanoukville from 16-22 January under the theme “ASEAN – A Community of Peace and Shared Future” toward tourism recovery and reopening our region in a more resilient, sustainable and responsible future.

The forum provides a platform to encourage collaboration between ASEAN member states and to holistically promote the region as one destination, with diverse culture, cuisine and communities.

The theme “ASEAN – A community of peace and shared future” articulates Cambodia's commitment as a key stakeholder in the region’s tourism eco-system. ATF 2022 aims to connect key stakeholders in the travel industry, which includes tourism ministers and officials, and will be attended over 100 sellers, 100 buyers, and 50 national and international media.

The 40th ATF is also attended by dialogue partners such as the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Pacific-Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA).
