Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 17 – Cambodian court decided to drop charges against Yim Sinorn, former youth president of the court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) in South Korea and nine other members.

Yim Sinorn told Fresh News on Monday (17 Jan).

Sinorn and nine entourages, including Meas Pisal, Ros Sophal, Sok Ratha, Yang Sineth, Chhun Bun Hea, Thong Hoch, Tim Vanny, Prum Sokha and Pring Chheng, were charged with conspiracy and incitement to cause serious social unrest after they were accused of joining the repatriation movement of convict Sam Rainsy on 9 November 2019.

Sinorn told Fresh News that "I have just received a message from my lawyer stating that the court had dropped charges against me and nine other members.”

He continued, "on behalf of my accomplices and myself, I would like to express my deep gratitude to premier Hun Sen for his intervention, requesting the court to review our cases.”

On 29 September 2021, Yim Sinorn wrote a letter requesting for Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen’s intervention to drop charges against him and accomplices.

In the letter, Yim Sinorn said he and other former members used to lead a nonviolent demonstration. However, they did not support the 9 November repatriation movement launched by Sam Rainsy, for the movement incited for hatred against the king and called on armed forces to launch coup against the legitimate government.
