Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 5 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen recommended to roll out Pfizer vaccine as the fourth dose for frontliners, including athletes and journalists, speaking at the reward ceremony for Cambodian gold medal athlete, held Wednesday at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh.

Building a strong herd immunity is very important, the premier said, adding that complete vaccination allows us to reopen the kingdom and have safe gatherings. In fact, last New Year's Eve alone, Cambodia received over 2 million tourists and no new COVID19 community case detected.

Premier Hun Sen reiterated that Cambodia currently has more than 2.3 million doses of Pfizer vaccine, while the priority group is approximately 700,000 people, therefore Cambodia has enough vaccines for fourth dose.

The frontliners include police, army, doctors, civil servants, artists and journalists as they are facing a higher risk of getting infected.

The kingdom has so far administered at least one dose of vaccines to more than 14 million people, or over 89 percent of its total population. More than 3.7 million people have received third dose or booster shot.
