Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 5 – Cambodian national athlete Ouk Sreymom has earned a gold medal, making Cambodia the world’s petanque champion for the fifth time consecutively.

Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said Wednesday at the Peace Palace that “joining international sports competitions and winning medals reflects the prestige of nation and people.”

The premier urged all Cambodian athletes to maintain dignity and respect the rules and regulations of the competitions.

Cambodia has won a total of 370 medals in Petanque, including 108 gold, 131 silver and 131 bronze medals.
