Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his pride in Cambodia’s national revenue for 2021 after the kingdom fully reopened, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Upgrading of National Road No. 48 Project on Monday.

In 2021, the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) collected approximately USD 2.3 billion in revenue, an equivalent to 97 per cent of the target plan while the General Department of Taxation (GDT) earned approximately USD 2.8 billion, exceeding the target plan by 24 per cent.

The revenue earned from the two departments totaled to more than USD 5 billion, which means the kingdom’s economy is under a good recovery phase, the premier underlined.

Cambodia's economy is expected to grow at 3% in 2021, while the final assessment will be made in March 2022.
