Koh Kong (FN), Jan. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that New Year holidays, which took place from 31 December 2021 to 2 January 2022, was a great reflection of Cambodia's full reopening of her economic and social activities.

The premier spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Upgrading of National Road No. 48 Project on Monday.

“The New Year holidays have become an important event for Cambodia’s full reopening […] Cambodia received more than 2 million tourists nationwide, of which 1.1 million on New Year eve alone,” the premier added.

In the past, Cambodians travel abroad for the New Year holidays but now they are travelling domestically, which contributes to boosting the kingdom’s economy, Samdech underlined.

Cambodia fully reopened the country on 1 November 2021 and closed the February 20 community transmission on 20 December 2021 thanks to the successful vaccination campaign.
