Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 3 – Cambodian tourism minister Thong Khon said that Cambodia received over 2 million tourists nationwide within 3 days, from 31 December 2021 to 2 January 2022, an increase of 74 per cent compared to same period of 2021.

Thong Khon added that the influx of tourists was driven by the closing of February 20 community transmission and the full reopening of the kingdom following the successful vaccination campaign.

"Tourists are happy and seem to be relaxed during their travels, most noticeably after receiving complete vaccination and the returning to normalcy,” the minister underlined.

The Capital and Provincial Administration of the Department of Tourism strives to promote the implementation of health safety measures to prevent COVID19 outbreak, as well as to improve the quality of tourism products and services, according to the minister.
