Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen thanked South Korean government for assisting the kingdom build Cambodia-South Korea friendship bridge, that will link Phnom Penh across the Mekong River to Kandal province’s Arey Ksat area.

The premier spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrading of National road No. 48 project on Monday, which he co-chaired with South Korean ambassador to Cambodia Park Heung-Kyeong.

The South Korean side has submitted the feasibility study on the construction of the Phnom Penh-Arey Ksat Bridge to the Royal Government of Cambodia for review.

“The Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge will not only contribute to ease traffic jam in the Phnom Penh capital for the next 100 years, but also become a tourist attraction in Phnom Penh,” the Korean ambassador said.

According to Cambodian minister of public works and transport Sun Chanthol, the construction of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, linking Phnom Penh to Akrey Ksat, may begin in 2022.
