Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 29 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen advised the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Electricity du Cambodge (EDC), and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to review the possibility to settle the electricity debt owed by Ministry of Defense, which is over USD 2 million.

The premier spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the administration building of the Ministry of National Defense on Wednesday.

The development of defense sector, from only 140 units to 240 units, leads to the annual increase of the electricity consumptions. In this regard, defense minister Tea Banh has requested additional budgets for the ministry's annual electricity consumptions, which has been agreed by premier Hun Sen.

All armed forces are urged to save electricity, the premier said.
