Kandal (FN), Dec. 9 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen is thankful for the international mechanisms that prohibit Cambodian people from depositing money in foreign banks.

The premier spoke at the construction inspection of the new Phnom Penh International Airport in Kandal province on Thursday.

"I thank the international measure for not allowing any Cambodian person to deposit money in foreign banks. Such measures have contributed to better cash flows in the country’s economy,” said the premier.

In the past, Cambodians often deposited money in foreign banks and invested overseas, now it is not possible to do so. Therefore, they deposit in domestic banks, the premier said.

At the same time, Samdech also felt sorry for some countries who failed to punish some Cambodian people by freezing their assets abroad, for those people have no assets to be frozen.
