Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 6 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen recalled the insult of a Vietnamese deputy defense minister Hoang Xuan Chien made on 10 March 2020, stating that if Vietnam does not restrict the border, Vietnam will receive a landslide of COVID19 infections from Cambodia.

The premier spoke at the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 11 and other roads in Prey Veng on Monday.

"Hun Sen get insulted, so we do our best to vaccinate approximately 89 percent of the kingdom’s total population. Are you [Hoang Xuan Chien] sure that the disease is transmitted from Cambodia? You have to consider whether you should apologize to Cambodian people,” the premier underlined.

"I cannot accept such insult. My people are now safe, so you must not wonder why I have to ensure my people at border receive the third dose.”

COVID19 cases in Cambodia have dropped dramatically, with just over 10 cases a day, while Vietnam has reported tens of thousands of confirmed cases every day.
