Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen has requested the Japanese government to assist Laos during COVID19 crisis, speaking in an online meeting with Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday.

The premier informed his Japanese counterpart that he was concerned about the economic situation in Laos, which is seriously affected by the COVID19 outbreak, according to a delegate minister Sri Thamrong.

In a separate meeting in person with Indonesian foreign minister Retno L.P. Marsudi, premier Hun Sen also briefed her the Cambodia's assistances to Laos, as the Kingdom recently donated USD 13 million and 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine to the Lao government and people.

Marsudi praised Cambodia’s assistance to Laos. She said Indonesia will also assist Laos in the fight against COVID19.

As chair of ASEAN Summit 2022, Samdech Hun Sen pledges to further provide COVID19 vaccines to Laos.
