Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 28 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen ordered relevant authorities to prevent and crack down on illegal logging and land grabbing along the Tonle Sap Lake, especially in Kampong Chhnang province, speaking in a voice message received by Fresh News on Sunday.

The premier's order came after the Royal Academy of Cambodia, led by Sok Touch, conducted a research study on the Tonle Sap Lake and discovered an illegal logging and land grabbing of the flooded forest land, especially in Kampong Chhnang province.

"Such action is unacceptable and unforgivable for officials who work with provincial, district, or other officials involved in the establishment of the illegal logging and land grabbing site. We can not accept this intrusion into our Tonle Sap region, therefore we need to take immediate actions,” the premier underlined.

Samdech has assigned all provincial governors along the Tonle Sap Lake to immediately inspect and prevent encroachment on flooded forest land, and also to properly manage the land.
