Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 12 – The delegates of Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by vice-chairman of its Commission for External Relations Suos Yara in his role as vice president of the Centrist Democrat International (CDI), attended the executive committee meeting and the CDI general assembly, held on 28-29 October 2021 in Brussels, Belgium via hybrid meeting.

The meeting was participated by 94 political parties from 73 countries representing Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa, according to the CPP’s press release issued on Friday.

The meeting achieved the following important results:

1. Approved the composition of the new Executive Committee, having Cambodian People's Party as the second vice president of CDI.

2. Adopted 12 resolutions, including the resolutions proposed by the CPP, with the overall content: (1) the promotion and building of the ASEAN-EU partnership, (2) the strengthening of multilateralism and global solidarity, and (3) promoting sustainable development.

3. Representatives of the delegation reported to the General Assembly on (a) the geopolitical situation in the Asia-Pacific region, (b) vaccination campaigns against COVID19 in Cambodia, and (c) as a chair of ASEAN and the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 13), Cambodia will strive to serve as a bridge for peace and fair cooperation under the principles of multilateralism and international law.

4. The General Assembly commended the four top leaders, including prime minister of the Republic of Slovenia Janes Jansa, prime minister of the Republic of Hungary Viktor Orban, prime minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković, and Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, for their leadership in the fight against COVID19 and fulfilling their role on international arena.
