On 12 November 2021, the court released a total of seven activists, including Rong Chhun, Ton Nimol, Sar Kanika, Chhoeun Daravy, Hun Vannak, Pen Chansongkream, and Suong Sophorn.

Rong Chhun was sentenced to 24 months in prison on 18 August 2021, charged with “incitement to cause social unrest” following a visit to the Cambodia-Vietnam border in Tbong Khmum province in 2020.

During his visit, Rong Chhun issued a statement to the public that the new Cambodia-Vietnam border post had been placed about 500 meters into Cambodian territory.

Immediately after the allegations, the Cambodian Border Affairs Committee dismissed Rong Chhun's statement as false and exaggerated and considered Rong Chhun's baseless allegations against the Royal Government’s border affairs.
