Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 10 – Mar Yarith, president of the Fresh News Training Center (FTC), said that journalist has a duty to bring answers to the audiences’ questions.

Mar Yarith spoke at a training organized by Fresh News Training Center (FTC) on 6 November 2021.

“Journalists shall answer audience’s questions by gathering as much information as possible from various sources, and avoid raising more questions for the audiences,” said Yarith.

Yarith underlined that journalists must understand their role and strive to adhere to the rules and regulations of professional ethics as well as the law on the press.

He added that lack of clear content and accurate explanation can lose public trust.

Mar Yarith is a local veteran journalist, who has been working in the field of journalism for over 30 years. He has worked for various well-known foreign news agencies such as UPI, AP and VOA.

Yarith was also the founder and co-founder to several media outlets in Cambodia. Back then, he was the only Cambodian student majoring in journalism at the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland in the United States.
