Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 28 – US Ambassador to Cambodia Patrick Murphy congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia on her successful vaccination program and readiness to reopen socio-economic activities.

His statement was made during a meeting with president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin at the National Assembly on Thursday morning.

The ambassador said the United States has actively assisted Cambodia’s health care sector, especially during the COVID19 pandemic as the US has so far donated more than 1 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine to Cambodia through the World Health Organization (WHO).

President Heng Samrin praised the ambassador for his efforts in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Cambodia over the past two years as well as promoting cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

President Samrin believed that the bonding and the diplomatic relations between Cambodia and the US, which has lasted for more than 70 years, will continue to grow more fruitfully.

He thanked the US for providing development assistance to Cambodia, particularly, in the areas of health, education, environment, culture, agriculture, and demining, especially the COVID19 vaccine. He also urged the US to continue to provide scholarships and training opportunities for young Cambodian students and leaders.
