Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 22 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen advised relevant ministries and institutions to review the possibility of resuming flights with some ASEAN member countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The premier spoke at the plenary session of the Council of Ministers held Friday at the Peace Palace.

The premier said currently, there are flights from Singapore, China and South Korea, to Cambodia.

He continued that as Thailand has allowed Cambodia to enter their country without the need to quarantine; Cambodia may treat Thai visitors the same way.

“We need to study the possibility of reopening the flights with Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta or any part of Indonesia and the Philippines. Cutting down the quarantine period for those who have been fully vaccinated also helps with the reopening of Cambodia’s safe tourism or vaccine tourism,” the premier underlined.

On 16 October, Cambodian Health Ministry announced new quarantine measures for Cambodian or international travelers. Cambodian and foreign investors, technical staffs, officers in charge of official development projects, diplomats, and government officials (including their family members) returning to Cambodia upon completing mission abroad will need to quarantine for only 3 days. Cambodian and foreign travelers in general will need to quarantine for seven days; those who have not yet fully vaccinated will quarantine for 14 days.
