Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 8 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said Cambodia plans to reopen its socio-economic activities nationwide if COVID19 case remains low after Pchum Ben.

The premier spoke at the cabinet meeting on Friday morning.

Not imposing travel restrictions during Pchum Ben holidays is a big test for Cambodia. If COVID19 case remains low within 2 weeks from Pchum Ben, Cambodia can reopen economic and social activities.

"This is our great test to reopen the country in all areas. If in 10 to 15 days, Cambodia's COVID19 infection and death rates remain low, I think it is time for us to reopen socio-economic in all areas, but to live the new normal and strictly follow the health and safety measures," the premier said.

Premier Hun Sen thanked all relevant authorities for maintaining security and social order as well as preventing the spread of COVID19. He also thanked Cambodian people for following the traffic laws and health measures.

To date, Cambodia has confirmed 114,351 cases of COVID19 with 106,839 recoveries and 2,459 deaths.
